Ecuador Page

Quito Ecuador is a South American city that is both old school and new school at the same time.  It is situated in the Andes Mountains about 15 miles south of the equator at an elevation on 9350 making it the second highest capital city in the world.  It also sits on the eastern slopes of an active volcano, but the 1.8 million people who live there don't seem to be bothered at all by that fact. The weather is usually really mild since it is so high in elevation and they always have exactly 12 hours of day light and 12 hours night time.  I was surprised their economy used the U.S. Dollar and since they also required no travel visa, getting in and out of there was a breeze.  It looked very South American with it's traditional architecture and Ciudad Antiqua (Old Town) really made you feel you were time travelling backwards.  Everything there is pretty cheap, people are really friendly, and like everywhere else in South America, beautiful women can be found everywhere.  I was not crazy over their food, and amazingly there aren't many American fast food places there. After three trips I've only found one Burger King and two McDonalds. If you're looking for a truly South American place to visit, go to Quito. Be sure to check the galleries to see some of the places I checked out like the statue of the Virgin Mary which overlooks the city and of course the equatorial line, I also saw their President cruising the streets in his motorcade and shot a few pics but they didn't bother to stop so I could get a really nice shot.
